The Blessing of Always
3 min read
Thanksgiving — that lovely little whisper of a holiday tucked right between Halloween’s sugar rush and the tinsel tornado of Christmas. It often gets overshadowed by costumes and candy on one side and twinkling lights on the other, but not in my world. No ma’am, the pumpkins stay put until after the turkey has had its moment of glory.
This year, I’ll be hosting Thanksgiving at my house, and the family is swooping in with turkey and all the side dishes a person could dream of. I’ve learned to let the younger generation shine in the kitchen while I focus on creating a warm home…and maybe contributing a dish or two so I don’t completely lose my cooking skills. And honestly, every year I declare I won’t over indulge, and every year the scales laugh right back at me. At this point, tradition wins!

Thanksgiving, for me, has always been more than a full table. It’s a celebration of family, friends, and blessings — even the blessings that come through tears. As I’ve grown older (and hopefully wiser), I’ve realized not everyone gets to enjoy togetherness during the holidays. Some folks walk into November with an empty chair at the table or an empty feeling in their hearts. And that sits heavy with me.
I wrote about a piece titled “Always” two years ago on my post at For God’s Glory Alone Ministries, but I believe it captures the a timeless truth and is perfect for anyone who might be feeling alone this season— so I am repeating it here.
Always As a believer… God will always be with you. He will always love you. He will always forgive your sins. He will always listen to you. He will always comfort you. He will always provide for you. He will always remember you. He will always work on your behalf. He will always lead you with love, power, and wisdom. He will always bless your obedience to Him. He will always come through for you. He will always answer your prayers. And when you wait on the Lord, you and know for certain that the best is yet to come…always. Author Unknown
When you know Jesus Christ, you are never alone. And if you don’t know him yet, as long as there’s breath in your lungs, you still can.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9-10
So here’s to a Thanksgiving filled with blessings big and small — from family crowded around the kitchen to quiet prayers whispered over the sink. May your heart be full, your home be warm, and your spirit be lifted by the One who is with you … always.
Happy Thanksgiving, dear friends, may you be blessed!
